Appropriately selected when buying truck and commercial batteries, it is quite a challenge. On the market you will find many models that differ in capacity, polarity, as well as starting current. Each truck battery or delivery battery, also differs in overall durability and vibration resistance, so it can take up to a few weeks to select the right model. We must also not forget that the battery for a truck (TIR) shows a great impact on the operation of the chosen company, even more so in transport, where vehicle downtime can be associated with higher costs. What distinguishes a truck battery?

Batteries installed in trucks are designed for a much higher load than those installed in passenger vehicles. The most important difference between such batteries is undoubtedly the capacity. Trucks use batteries with capacities as high as in the 200-226 Ah range with a starting current of 1200-1300 A. Where do such differences come from? In order to start a truck, much more energy is required, sometimes several times more than in passenger vehicles. In addition to greater capacity, truck batteries are designed to operate in much harsher conditions, such as greater temperature fluctuations, constant shocks or vibration.

In the offer of stores, you can find truck batteries in capacities such as: 125Ah, 140Ah, 170Ah, 180Ah, 225Ah, 230Ah and quite a few others. Among other things, they are used in agricultural machinery, such as tractors, trucks, vans, excavators, tractors and harvesters. There are many widespread, but also less common batteries on the market.

Longevity of truck batteries

Batteries designed for installation in trucks are immune to deep discharges, and as a result their life and durability are much higher, unlike traditional batteries fitted to passenger cars. A significant part of the offerings made available in stores are hermetic types of batteries, in which the electrolyte is thickened with either fiberglass or silicon gel. Cargo batteries must be immune not only to external factors, but also to the mistakes that truck drivers make during their daily use.
