Like a car, motorcycles and scooters also need a working and charged battery to get moving. Motorcycle batteries are stores of electricity generated by the alternator. What battery for a motorcycle should I choose?

Choosing the right battery is an important matter for any fan of two wheels. When choosing a battery for a motorcycle, it is worth paying attention to three key parameters which are: capacity, nominal voltage and starting current value. We must also consider the battery technology and here we have a choice of gel, lead-acid, lithium-ion and AGM batteries - in our motorcycle battery store there are batteries from manufacturers such as Yuasa, Bpower or Noco.motorcycle battery with a voltage of 12V The oldest and simplest type of batteries installed in motorcycles are lead-acid batteries with an uncomplicated design and a fairly low price.Gel batteries for motorcycle are batteries of modern design, very good parameters, which, unlike lead-acid batteries, can be mounted in any position. In addition, gel batteries are relatively lightweight, have a lifespan several times longer, high resistance to temperature extremes and a relatively accessible price. Another type of motorcycle batteries are AGM or Absorbent Glass Mat batteries - very similar in design to gel batteries. AGM motorcycle batteries have a higher starting current value because in their construction we find, instead of silica, special fiberglass mats that reduce internal resistance, which translates into a higher starting current in a motorcycle battery of AGM type. The last but the best type of motorcycle batteries are lithium-ion or LifePO4batteries. They may not be the cheapest, but they are unbeatably lightweight, can be charged very quickly (up to 90% in as little as 4 minutes) and have an incredibly high starting current for such capacities. The only downside besides the price is poor resistance to temperature extremes.

The right choice of battery is one thing, but taking care of the battery you buy is also an important matter. Whether it's a 6V or 12V motorcycle battery, whether it has a Yuasa or Odyssey sticker, proper care is essential, especially in the winter. The period when we do not use our unicycles, plus moisture and low temperatures, cause the battery life to decrease significantly. It is worthwhile for the winter time to connect the motorcycle battery to the motorcycle automatic charger in a warm place so as not to lead to full discharge, which can irreparably damage the battery.
