Intelligent transportation systems – on what principle do they work?

Intelligent transportation systems from the Dingolfing plant operate on a simple principle. They make it possible to increase the efficiency of the logistics processes being implemented. Of course, they are supervised by qualified and experienced employees. They work especially well when transporting electric cars from inside the building to outside the production complex.

It is crucial that the systems in use are resistant to the adverse effects of the weather. Consequently, it is necessary to use specially designed sensors and components that exhibit increased durability. The same applies to the increasingly popular electric version of cars.

Specialists work on many levels, being responsible, among other things, for efficient communication between vehicles and the systems in use, but also for protecting individual road users (integrating modern vehicles into the traffic guidance system). All this takes time and a great deal of skill.

Automated transport systems – basic information

Automated transport systems are divided into two basic types of transport truck depots:

  • Autotrailer,
  • Autobox.

A large-scale research project is currently underway to connect the aforementioned depots to the 5G network. This will avoid communication problems when trying to connect to BMW’s well-known control system.

Various pilot projects are also underway. They include the testing of external models of transport cart depots, including the Linde depot (pulling force of 3 tons) and the Easymile (ability to transport hardened sheet metal parts). Particularly noteworthy is the latter depot, which features a pulling force of 15 tons or the presence of GPS satellite navigation.

One of the most important pieces of information for those familiar with the subject is that automated transport systems are very flexible and can be selected for, among other things, varying transport capacity or size. Of great importance are the needs and requirements of individual users. Systems are being improved and developed all the time.

Autotrailer and Autobox – what are their characteristics?

The aforementioned Autotrailer and Autobox devices are gaining a growing group of supporters. In the near future, specialists operating at the Dynamics Center will be able to use two Autotrailers. This will gain the ability to seamlessly tow containers (brought by rail) from the container yard. Intelligent transport systems will give the opportunity to freely fill containers with spare parts. Once this activity is completed, the containers can be “delegated” back.

The autobox features a base area of 4.5 x 2 meters. One of the most important elements, on the other hand, is a robust enclosure, designed to protect goods from inclement weather.
